Course Details

This exhilarating speciality course teaches you to transform strong currents from potential challenges into nature’s effortless underwater transport system. You’ll learn to position yourself perfectly in the flow, using minimal energy while covering expansive reef systems – ideal for photographers and marine life observers.

The programme combines current analysis with practical skills for managing buoyancy, navigation and surface signalling in moving water. From deploying delayed SMBs to coordinating with boat crews, you’ll develop the confidence to enjoy drift dives in destinations worldwide while understanding when and how to exit currents safely.

Course Essentials:

• Prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Minimum Age: 12 years
• Dive Requirements: 2 drift dives demonstrating current management
• Equipment: SMB and reel (provided if needed)

Drift Diving Reality:

While often described as “underwater flying”, the course emphasises that successful drift diving requires active awareness – constantly monitoring depth, air supply, and your position relative to both your buddy and the boat.
